Welcome to the Solar Energy Information Page

There is a lot of great information on line about solar energy. The link below will take you to a detailed study of solar power potential in Indiana. Don't forget to check out the solar projects of the SIREN members.

Indiana Renewable Energy Resources Study

Many residents of Southern Indiana would like to place photovoltaic (PV) panels on their home and tie their systems into the power grid so excess power can be used by the power company. However, many people are uncertain where to begin.  A representative from Duke Energy has supplied SIREN with following information:

1. Technical requirements for residential grid-tied PV systems include a UL 1741 compliant inverter and a netmetering-capable power meter. If a new power meter is needed Duke will replace the existing meter at no charge.

2. A short Interconnect Agreement is entered into by Duke Energy and the resident.

3. The Duke Energy point of contact for these systems is David Ash, David.Ash@duke-energy.com.
