SUMMARY:"The Fierce Urgency of Now": Time to Choose
DESCRIPTION:SIREN is one of nine local environmental groups sponsoring a program in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King\, Jr. at the Buskirk Chumley Theater on January 15 from 5-7 pm. The program will consist of a  showing of the film Time to Choose followed by a brief introduction of the groups working locally to mitigate climate change and what they are doing. Carrie Newcomer will lead the audience in singing “If not now\, tell me when” which has become SIREN’s anthem. Then a light dinner will be served and people are invited to stay and talk with the sponsors. \nFree but a reservation is required. RSVP at the event website: choosejan15.wordpress.com

DESCRIPTION:When Bloomington’s City Hall and Police Headquarters go solar in 2017\, residents will be able to join in though the Solarize Bloomington Campaign.  The city has asked solar installers to offer a discount to local residents and businesses as part of the project for the city buildings. \nAt this evening’s event\, SIREN\, the technical adviser to the Solarize Campaign\, will give a Going Solar presentation customized to potential participants. Jacqui Bauer\, City Sustainability Coordinator\, will introduce Whole Sun Designs\, the company that will do most residential installations.  WSD’s president Ryan Zaricki will discuss scheduling and share how the company works with customers. \n
